Welcome to my site.

I am an award-winning journalist, with features in The New York Times, Guardian, Smithsonian Magazine, Los Angeles Times and Sunset — among other outlets. (A selection of my work is featured in the Articles section of the site.)

My book Oldest San Francisco, has just come out (from Reedy Press). It’s a collection of tales of this city, about the assorted institutions that have made San Francisco San Francisco. I interviewed over a hundred locals and took a lot of the photos, many of which appear in the book and on its site.

My first novel, Until It Shimmers, came out (from Ace of Swords) in 2022. Marjan Kamali, the award-winning author of The Stationery Shop, calls it “an atmospheric and immersive debut.” Christopher Castellani, the author of Leading Men, says it’s “compelling and transporting.” This is the take from the Kirkus Reviews. I am currently working on a second novel, interim title The Freshman Book, focused on the younger brother in Shimmers and his first year at Dartmouth.
